GOING GLOBAL is an optimistic assessment of Renton's past, current and future cultures. It expresses Renton's civic ideals of adaptability and fluidity.
Shimmering art surfaces and the light pole “wave” reference Renton’s myriad connections to Water: Duwamish peoples and other early inhabitants harvested the bounties of this wetland site, early 20th century reconfigurations of Lake Washington and the Black and Cedar Rivers expanded and protected the emerging built environment, Renton’s library spans the Cedar River, industry on Lake Washington, annual salmon festivals, etc.
A wave of blue/silver graphics and glowing light celebrate Renton's dynamic ethnic, cultural and commercial entities. GOING GLOBAL acknowledges Renton's influence within our region, and, indeed, throughout the world.
