APACHE STORIES PROJECT
Apache Blvd Light Rail Stations Tempe AZ
Shaw collected stories and anecdotes about historic and current experiences related to the canals and neighborhoods near Apache Blvd in Tempe Arizona. He used excerpts and adaptations from these stories as text medallions in pavement artworks at the four Valley Metro Rail stations along Apache Blvd in Tempe.
Appeals were made via community meetings, email, news letters, and other media. Archive research yielded additional stories and images. Not all submissions were used. Authors are not named or otherwise recognized in the artwork. Submitted stories are public record.
The artist thanks all individuals and institutions for memories and stories submitted to this project.
